DRILLS - Low table DRILLS LOW TABLE is part of The Slipcover collection.
Presented in the solo exhibition of the same name at Vartai Gallery, the piece draws from the psychological discipline of military drills — practices that enforce control, automatism, and performance under pressure. These themes resonate throughout the object’s material choices and construction, each carrying personal associations with unease and violence in the world.

This low, multifunctional table is composed of materials chosen for their histories of protection and resistance. The hand-carved aluminium surface reinforces the table’s durability, while referencing traditional defensive ornamentation. The limed oak — a finish developed in the 16th century to deter rot and insects — adds another layer of preservation. A metal-coated linen slipcover lends resilience and reflectivity, both physically and metaphorically.
